APW - Hamilton, "Trade Mark Main Line Special W.M. Stone, Minneapolis, Minn." marked mvt, Grade 934, 17J, 18S, sterling silver OF swingout recase with gold inlaid locomotive detail to rear, "W.M. Stone, Minneapolis, Minn." marked white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#24620. William M. Stone was an official watch inspector for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Minneapolis Railroad. On April 27th, 1897, Stone registered U.S. trademark number 29900 for the phrase "Main Line," claiming his business had made continuous use of this phrase since 1895.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, oxide to areas of regulator assembly; dial with two fractures to lower-left portion of center section above 7, small edge nick to inner rim of outer chapter below 11; fine hands, hour and minute are mismatched styles, minute with finish loss to spade; case shows ample wear, some mild dings and nicks around sides, substantially reduced engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows ample wear; thick glass crystal with scattered scratches.
